At Black Creek Community Farm, we’re passionate about creating meaningful intergenerational learning experiences that connect people of all ages to the land, to each other, and to themselves. Our experiential programs are designed to nurture confidence, inspire environmental stewardship, promote healthy lifestyles, and support food justice—all while aligning with the Ontario curriculum and individual learning goals.
Through hands-on, outdoor education tailored to diverse lived experiences, we foster a dynamic, collaborative space for growth and discovery.
To ensure safety of all visitors and deliver top-notch programs, we kindly ask that each visit is limited to 30 participants. For groups more than 30 participants will be dependent on staff capacity. Thank you for your understanding.
Step into the boots of an urban farmer for a day! Participants will explore farming tools, visit beehives and native plant gardens, learn about soil health through vermicomposting, and engage with the greenhouse and chicken coop. The experience wraps up with a fun hands-on activity like a garden necklace craft, seed planting, or a plant part relay race. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, dig into the soil, and discover what it takes to grow the food we eat!
Earth to Table
Discover the journey of food from farm to table! Participants will explore the farm’s market garden, beehives, and fruit trees while learning about food systems, food waste, and the impact of agriculture on climate change. Through hands-on activities like harvesting, tasting, and preparing fresh produce, this sensory-rich experience highlights the power of local food and how we can take action for a more sustainable future.
Urban Agriculture and Beyond
Dive into the world of urban farming and its deeper connections to food justice, sustainability, and community well-being. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities like weeding farm fields, sowing seeds, or restoring the Food Forest, participants will explore topics such as food sovereignty, Indigenous land-based teachings, and climate action. This program fosters a deeper understanding of our food system and the role we all play in shaping a sustainable future.
