Our Team

At Black Creek Community Farm, our team is made up of passionate individuals dedicated to food justice, urban agriculture, and community empowerment. From farmers and educators to program coordinators and volunteers, we work together to cultivate fresh food, create meaningful learning experiences, and build a more just and sustainable food system.

Rooted in the Jane-Finch community, our team brings diverse expertise in farming, environmental stewardship, youth engagement, and social advocacy. We are committed to ensuring that Black Creek Community Farm remains a thriving hub for food security, education, and connection.

Our Board

Black Creek Community Farm is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors who bring a wealth of experience in food justice, community development, environmental sustainability, and nonprofit leadership. Our Board is composed of members who reflect the diversity of the community we serve, many of whom reside and/or work in the Jane-Finch/Black Creek neighbourhood.

Under the Policy Governance Model, the Board is responsible for advancing the mission, mandate, and strategic planning of Black Creek Community Farm. Their leadership ensures that BCCF continues to serve as a vital resource for food security, education, and advocacy in the Jane-Finch community and beyond.

    Joe G. Thomas is an Author, Farmer, and founder of Black Vegans of Toronto.

    My name is Cara McArthur. I am a community advocate, public speaker, educator, and community engagement specialist who is passionate about working with historically underserved populations.

  • Pamela Phan
    Pamela Phan is a lifelong resident and community worker in the Jane-Finch community, working in food and climate justice, anti-poverty, and community-building based on care.

  • Ernest Barnie
    My name is Ernest Barnie. I am a Registered Social Service worker, currently serving as a Case Manager (Job Retention Specialist) at the YMCA for nearly two years.

  • Julian Hasford
    My family immigrated from Ghana to Canada in the late 1970s, settling in Jane/Finch (Driftwood) where I spent my childhood before moving to the Peel region.
  • Bernice Yanful
    Hello. My name is Bernice Yanful. I am a current BCCF steering committee member. I recently completed PhD studies at the University of Toronto.
  • Charlyn Ellis
    Charlyn Ellis has been an active member of the urban farming community for over fifteen years.
  • Sam Tecle
    Sam Tecle is Assistant Professor of Community Engaged Learning at New College, University of Toronto. His work focuses on Black and Diaspora Studies, Urban Studies, and Sociology of Education.
  • Aisha Jalloh
    Aisha Jalloh is a current student at York University completing her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
  • Leanne Rabinowitz
    Leanne Rabinowitz is a chef and nutritionist with a Bachelor of Commerce in Food Administration from the University of Guelph.
  • Prosper Agamlor
    Prosper Kwaku Agamlor is a dedicated community leader and passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture.
  • Cornelia Mazgarean
    Cornelia Mazgarean was born in Romania, where she experienced the dictatorial regime of Ceausescu and lived through the revolution of 1989.
  • Deepak Monga
    My name is Deepak Monga. I am a senior, retired from TD Insurance with work experience of over 30 years in different levels of management functions/operations/responsibilities.
